Printmaking Sessions

  • Gelli Printing 16th & 23rd October 2024

Gelli printing is a monoprinting technique that uses a soft, gel-like plate to create one-of-a-kind prints. Artists apply paint or ink to the plate and use tools, stencils, or found objects to create patterns and textures. Paper is pressed onto the plate to transfer the design, resulting in vibrant and layered prints.

  • Woodblock Printing 30th Oct & 6th Nov 2024

Woodblock printing is a traditional printmaking technique where designs are carved into a wooden block. The raised portions of the block are inked, and the design is transferred to paper or fabric by pressing or rubbing.

  • Screen Printing with Stencils 13th and 20th Nov 2024

Screen printing with stencils involves creating a design by cutting a stencil and placing it on a screen made of fine mesh. Ink is pushed through the open areas of the stencil using a squeegee, transferring the design onto paper, fabric, or other surfaces.

  • Collagraph 27th Nov & 4th Dec 2024

Collagraph printing is a printmaking technique where a textured plate is created by gluing materials like fabric, cardboard, or string onto a base. The plate is sealed, inked, and then pressed onto paper to transfer the textured design. Both intaglio (inking the grooves) and relief (inking the raised surfaces) methods can be used with collagraphs.

  • Lino Printing 11th & 18th December 2024

Lino printing is a relief printmaking technique where designs are carved into a linoleum surface. The raised, uncarved areas are inked, and the design is transferred to paper or fabric using hand pressure or a printing press.
